The Confucius Institute at the University of Dubai, (CIUD) under the authorization of Confucius Institute Headquarters (CI Headquarters), China Ministry of Education, was established in 2011 jointly by the University of Dubai(UD) in the UAE and Ningxia University (one of the 100 key universities) in China. It is the first Confucius Institute established in the UAE and also the first in the GCC countries. CIUD possesses a certificate as an HSK administrator and is certified by Chinese Testing International (CTI). CIUD is also the 140th Host Institute for the Confucius Institute Scholarship authorized by CI Headquarters.

CIUD offers an accessible curriculum with flexible schedules. Chinese classes are conducted by professional Chinese teachers with qualification issued by CI Headquarters. The textbooks well organized and offered by Confucius Institute Headquarters are adapted to the local environment. CIUD students will get certificates for one level accomplishment from the University of Dubai. In addition, CIUD students who meet the requirements may have the opportunity to enter the yearly Summer Camp sponsored by CI Headquarters and to apply for a scholarship to study Chinese at a university in China. CIUD also tailors Chinese training programs for individuals or teams, and offers lectures on Chinese culture.
